Meet Assoc Professor James Ransford Dankwah, Head-Minerals Engineering Department, UMaT, Ghana

Dr James Ransford Dankwah is an Associate Professor of Mineral Engineering and has been offering consultancy services and research to the Mining Industry in Ghana and beyond. He is currently the Head of Mineral Engineering Department at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Ghana. He completed a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (2012), from the University of New South Wales, Australia after completing an M.Sc. Process Metallurgy (1999), from the Norwegian University of Science & Technology, Norway. He has a B.Sc. (Hons.) Metallurgical Engineering (1990), from KNUST, Ghana. Assoc Prof Dankwah comes with a specialization in Ferrous Metals Processing, Ferroalloys Processing, Electrochemistry and Electrometallurgy, Corrosion basics and Engineering and General Extractive Metallurgy amongst others. He has several publications to his credit and has undertaken a lot of groundbreaking research including De-polymerisation of Waste Plastics to Produce Liquid Fuel (Diesel), Carbothermal upgrading of the Awaso Bauxite Deposit using locally available Waste Polymers as Reductant and Application of Polymer Reduction Technology to the Production of Metals from Waste Ink Toner Cartridge. He is a Fellow Member of the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM).
