Beyond the Call donation to Wichita firefighters

A press conference was held to discuss the work of the nonprofit Beyond The Call, an organization founded by Wichita firefighters that focuses on firefighter mental health and wellness. During the event, representatives discussed Firemen’s Friend, a detox soap designed to help remove contaminants that firefighters may encounter during emergency response activities. The organization stated that the soap is sold online and that a bar is donated to firefighters for each bar purchased. Speakers also discussed a $50,000 donation from Fidelity Bank. According to statements made during the press conference, the donation will help provide every Wichita firefighter with a year’s supply of Firemen’s Friend soap while also supporting firefighter cancer screening efforts. Representatives said the funding will also be used to purchase equipment and increase production capacity. The press conference included discussion of firefighter wellness initiatives, including mental health support programs, peer support meetings, and cancer prevention efforts. Representatives from Beyond The Call, Fidelity Bank, the Wichita Fire Department, and Wichita State University participated in the event.
