"WE HAVE SUFFERED FOR TOO LONG ” KPANDEM Residents Cry Out Over Dangerous Bridge For almost 15 to 20 years, the people of KPandem have continued to risk their lives crossing a broken and dangerous bridge that has become a painful symbol of neglect and hardship in the community. What should have been a safe passage for residents has now turned into a daily nightmare for farmers, school children, traders, motorcyclists, and pregnant women. Some residents, speaking emotionally to Buluk One TV, shared heartbreaking testimonies about the suffering caused by the bridge. According to community members, a pregnant woman once went into labour while attempting to cross the bridge and reportedly delivered under the weak wooden structure due to the difficulty of accessing healthcare on time. In another painful incident, residents revealed that a woman nearly lost her life during labour after delays caused by the poor condition of the bridge. Her husband struggled to transport her to the hospital, and nurses later confirmed that she could have died if they had delayed by just ten more minutes. These stories reflect the dangerous reality many families in KPandem face every single day. Despite years of appeals, the bridge remains in a deplorable condition. However, the resilience of the people continues to shine through. Residents have now organized themselves and begun community efforts to salvage the bridge with the little resources available to them. The people of Pandem are passionately appealing to government, district authorities, philanthropists, and development partners to urgently intervene before another life is lost. A bridge is not just a structure. It is a lifeline. And for the people of P KPandem, that lifeline is slowly collapsing. REPORTING, BULUK ONE TV.
