5 Jazz Vibes Records You NEED TO OWN!
These are five of the jazz vibraphone records that were highly important to me when I was first learning how to play jazz. If you are an aspiring vibraphonist - it's my opinion that these records are essentials for your listening. In this video I don't play audio clips recordings - I actually play live the tunes OR vibraphone solos from the records.. I thought this would be a good way to demonstrate the importance of really learning the record - to the point that you can play it on your instrument. This is how generations of musicians learned, and this is how I learned (even though I went to music school). Whichever albums inspire you, this is how you should try to learn from them too. Of course, this list is highly personal for me - I certainly listened to and loved many other records - not just of vibraphone players. Besides vibraphonists, I've transcribed Sonny Stitt, Keith Jarrett, Kenny Barron, Stan Getz, John Coltrane, John Scofield, Phineas Newborn, Clifford Brown, Bill Evans, and many more (just off the top of my head). But these 5 albums (plus honorable mentions ;) are really the ones that helped me start playing at first, and I still love them and listen to them now. I hope you enjoy the video! Please use the comments to tell me (and each other) what other albums you find inspiring! New videos every week! (Usually Wednesday) Lessons and sheet music can be found as usual at my website: http://www.timcollinsmusic.com -LINKS TO THE ALBUMS MENTIONED- If you want to buy any of these albums - use these links and you will also be supporting my channel! #5: http://amzn.to/2tszsQa #4: http://amzn.to/2FnliAZ #3: http://amzn.to/2DblgKY #2: http://amzn.to/2G3lsyB #1: http://amzn.to/2Fop4u6 Honorable Mentions: (Chick & Gary) http://amzn.to/2G2Pjaw http://amzn.to/2G4eU2P (Gerry) http://amzn.to/2trWzKu
