However, this smaller and unique early minimalist piece for chorus, having become a staple in the repertoires of advanced chamber choirs, is actually Hillborg’s most frequently performed work. There are no words in this 16-part unaccompanied piece, just voices using dipthongs to slide between vowels. The resulting rich palette of overtones, combined with a simple repetitive rhythm of quick notes, mostly pentatonic, creates a mesmerizing feeling of timelessness.
