Fundamentals of Shell Structures and Structural Analysis

This is a (lately-recorded) video of the lecture that I delivered in the International Student Workshop on 13 Aug 2021, organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Petra Christian University, Surabaya, Indonesia. The big topic of the Workshop is BAMBOO GRIDSHELL COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN. The lecture will first introduce different types of shell structures, that is, continuous, stiffened, and grid shells. These include the definitions, advantages/disadvantages, and several examples. The second part of the lecture will present the fundamentals of structural analysis, specifically, the basic knowledge an engineer should know for analyzing grid shell structures. These include the analysis cases, mathematical models, material properties, and loadings.
