Tramvia 3.2.1 Firenze-Bagno a Ripoli: tutto quello che c'è da sapere sui lavori in piazza Beccaria

The construction project will last approximately 38 weeks and includes the construction of the tramway that will encircle the square, as well as redevelopment works. Two lanes in each direction will be guaranteed on the main road. The future paving will be made of Pietra Serena stone from Firenzuola. Florence Tramway: With the start of work in Piazza Beccaria, another key step has been taken towards the construction of the new Piazza della Libertà-Bagno a Ripoli tramway line. This construction project will transform the square itself: firstly, because the trams will completely cross the central area, with the tracks encircling the renovated Porta La Croce tramway. Secondly, because the square will have a new look: the redevelopment plan, which also began with an institutional inspection, focuses particularly on pedestrian access and greenery, thanks to a project that stems from a reinterpretation of the one conceived by Giuseppe Poggi when Florence was the capital of Italy. Among other things, the future paving of the square will be made of Pietra Serena stone from Firenzuola, with a strong focus on the excellent products of the Florence metropolitan area. Regarding the tram construction site, which, as always, will be divided into several phases, in addition to Piazza Beccaria itself, Viale Giovine Italia will also be involved, all the way to Via Ghibellina. The overall duration of the work will be approximately 38 weeks: the aim is to complete the square by summer 2026. Meanwhile, work begins on the aqueduct installation on the corner of Viale Gramsci on the Via Gioberti side, with the closure of the side road and a narrowing of the carriageway. The subsequent construction phases will begin in early November, intensifying during the post-Christmas period with the associated changes to traffic flow. In this area, however, as on other sections affected by the work on the future 3.2.1 line, two lanes in each direction will always be guaranteed on the main road. Regarding the redevelopment and landscaping, upon completion, Piazza Beccaria will feature a double row of trees marking the boundary between the internal and external pedestrian areas and the driveway with parking (which will be maintained, albeit to a lesser extent than currently). The square will feature a total of 37 trees, 31 of which will be newly planted. Among the existing trees, the magnolia and beech trees on the Via Gioberti side will be maintained in a protected area. The project also includes the construction of two fountains measuring over 220 square meters. A bike path will also be built on the Borgo La Croce side, while, as mentioned, the tram tracks will cross the square centrally, encircling the renovated Porta La Croce area.
