The judge presiding over the case of Esther López's violent death has granted the suspect his freedom after his statement in the Valladolid courts. He is required to sign in every Monday and is prohibited from leaving the country. To justify his release, the judge specified that the police investigation is practically complete and therefore the accused cannot conceal, alter, or destroy evidence relevant to the trial; he cannot act against any other legally protected rights of the victim, and it is unlikely he will commit further crimes.
