Raised by adoptive parents, she always felt something was missing until meeting her birth mother at age 20. During that reconnection, her mother gifted her a ukulele and revealed her own life as a professional violinist. This exchange unlocked JAKI's inherent musical voice and reshaped her life's purpose. From that moment forward, creating music became her path. A lifelong poet, JAKI's songwriting is instinctive through freestyle and meditation, with words and melodies surfacing like fragments of dreams. Her sound draws on gospel roots and influences like Etta James, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Nicks, and Amy Winehouse. All artists who showed her how to make vulnerability both beautiful and unflinching. Her new single "Blue Dream," is the lead track from her forthcoming debut EP The Love You've Been Given. It sits in an atmospheric pocket of R&B and neo-soul, built around jazzy acoustic guitar, layered vocal harmonies, and synth pads that create a slow-burning, late-night mood. The song explores the illusions we build to escape a lack of self, the fantasies we project onto another person when we don't yet know who we are. With lyrics like "While I was wishing that you'd love me, I was really wishing that I'd love myself," JAKI BLUE confronts the gap between self-recognition and self-avoidance, framing the song as both a personal reckoning and an invitation to anyone navigating the same uncertain ground. The song reads just as readily as a meditation on a fleeting connection between two people, each searching for themselves in the other. Coming out of her own search for identity, "Blue Dream" carries the weight of self-acceptance while opening the door to her debut EP. The track also marks the first full entry into THE BLUE DREAM WORLD, the alt-reality soul dimension JAKI has been building across her music and beyond. This release signals the next era for JAKI BLUE. One where the illusions begin to fall away, and what remains is the truth of finally coming home to oneself.
