Set against the welcoming grounds of SMK Bahang, Penampang on the 30th and 31st of May 2026, this event is more than just a competition; it is a lively gathering of community, culture, and shared joy. At the heart of this year's celebration is the deeply meaningful Kaamatan 2026 theme: "KAAMATAN: MENUAI PERPADUAN, MERAIKAN KEHARMONIAN" (Kaamatan: Harvesting Unity, Celebrating Harmony). This theme reminds us that just as we gather the physical harvest, we must also cultivate and cherish the bonds that bring our diverse communities together. Games That Bind Us Together The festival features a thrilling lineup of traditional sports that test strength, precision, and teamwork, inviting people from all walks of life—men, women, youth, and veterans—to participate for free. Tests of Strength and Strategy: The cheers of the crowd will echo as competitors lock hands in Mipulos(Arm Wrestling) and pull together in the ultimate test of collective power, Tarik Tali (Tug of War). Precision and Ancestral Skills: Watch the remarkable focus of participants as they showcase ancient hunting and survival skills through Monopuk (Blowpipe), Manandus (Spear Throwing), and the classic Momolisitik (Slingshot). You can even witness the unique Sukan Monungkava Kalabau (Buffalo Catching/Lassoing), a true nod to traditional agrarian life. Teamwork and Daily Traditions:The festival beautifully transforms daily ancestral chores into cooperative games. Couples will work in harmony during Tumutu(Rice Processing), while others will demonstrate the survival skill of Mobpiri(Fire Starting). Laughter and Balance: For moments of pure joy and shared laughter, participants will balance high above the ground in Rampanau (Stilt Walking) or coordinate their steps in groups of five for the hilarious Sipatu Tompulangoi (Giant Clogs) race.
