SETTLE | Station and Town Centre | exploring a Yorkshire town on a windy spring day

Welcome, or welcome back, to Wanderlust Walks! Thank you for being here. Today, we are exploring the lovely Yorkshire town, Settle. Best known for its railway line - The Settle to Carlisle Railway - we begin our journey at the train station. The name of the town, Settle, is believed to be derived from the Anglian 7th century, quite literally meaning settlement. Most of the buildings date back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, including the French-style town hall now housing the Tourist Information Centre, as well as the row of shops known as the Shambles. We thoroughly enjoyed this walk, even though it was quite a windy one - and we hope you do, too!
