The WV Presents "CHASING CASS SCENIC RAILROAD" Railfan Weekend 2011 from Alternate Locations

SPECIAL PRESENTATION! "Chasing Cass Scenic Railroad". An "alternate" look at the annual Cass Railfan Weekend, as taken by a non-participant in the annual Weekend's festivities. Since I wasn't able to determine whether I would have time to visit for the full weekend, my friend Keith and I decided at last minute to drive down on Sunday and chase the train as it headed up the mountain. As this footage shows, there are still quite a few interesting sites...even for those who are not able to purchase tickets. The footage includes CSRR Shay #11 and Big Six arriving at the water tank, Shay #4 switching the log train, the famous "Three Train Race", the passenger train crossing Back Mountain Road, both the passenger train and freight train crossing Gum Road, and footage of both trains doing runbys on Gum Curve taken from a distant field. This scene alone offers a completely unique view, and allows the viewer to hear the whistle as it echoes across the mountains. Recorded Sunday, May 22, 2011.
