Two residents of Cirebon Regency boldly climbed a Base Transceiver Station tower to steal a signal transmitter. Using only an L-shaped key, the thefts were committed 30 times, in Brebes, Tegal, Pemalang, and Pekalongan Regencies. As a result, the two perpetrators were arrested by police in the BTS tower area on Saturday (January 8, 2024) at around 1:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The crime was uncovered when residents of Buaran Village, Jatibarang District, Brebes Regency, observed suspicious behavior by a perpetrator in the BTS tower area. They reported the incident to the Jatibarang Police, who then arrested the perpetrator. Brebes Police Chief, AKBP Guntur M. Tariq, through Deputy Police Chief, Kompol Dodiawan, accompanied by the Head of Criminal Investigation, AKP Angga Surya Saputra, and the Mobile Detective Team, revealed that the theft of a signal transmitter belonging to PT XL AXIATA Tbk, along with 13 SVPs contained in the BTS module, had been uncovered. The identities of the two perpetrators, Drajat, 20, and Abdul Rokhman, 60, are known. Both are residents of Grogol Village, Kapetakan District, Cirebon Regency. "Two suspects in the BTS module theft case were arrested at two different locations. First, suspect Drajat, 20, was arrested in the BTS tower area in Buaran Village, Jatibarang District. Subsequently, a confession emerged, and an investigation was immediately launched to arrest suspect Abdul Rokhman, 60," he explained during a press conference on Friday afternoon (January 26, 2024). Meanwhile, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Angga Surya Saputra, added that based on the two suspects' confessions, the BTS module thefts had occurred 30 times. In fact, some of the stolen items had been sold online. In addition to arresting the two suspects, several pieces of evidence were also seized, including nine BTS module plates (cell phone signal transmitters) and their SVPs. Furthermore, a silver Honda Beat Street motorcycle with license plate number E 5235 DN was seized. Also, a set of BT box keys used by the two suspects as tools in carrying out their actions. "For their actions, the two suspects are being charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty is 7 years in prison," he concluded.
