From Simple Magic Trick to Mechanical Puppet Illusion

In this video, I take a classic magic prop and completely rework it into a mechanical animated effect. The lid shakes and moves like something alive is trapped inside, then suddenly bursts open and launches confetti everywhere. The movement is designed to match the personality and motion of a spring puppet used in the routine. I also show the mechanisms and engineering behind the animation system, including how I created the motion effects and confetti launch. The confetti ties into the paper magic routine that follows, where cut paper unfolds into shapes like trees, ladders, chains of people, and more.
