The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially named Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving the sale and purchase of positions. As reported by Tribunnews, KPK investigators detained the Regent after he underwent intensive questioning at the KPK's Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (July 1, 2026). Suhardiman was seen wearing the orange vest typical of KPK detainees and exited the building at 3:44 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). Iron handcuffs bound the regional head's hands as several prison guards and police officers escorted him to the detention vehicle. Two other suspects walking alongside the Regent were Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnaen and a private individual, Ardiles, President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant. As they made their way through the crowd of media crews, the Regional Secretary and Ardiles remained silent. Suhardiman, on the other hand, took the time to provide a statement as he continued walking toward the detention vehicle. He asked for prayers from the community after being named a suspect. Officers then loaded the three suspects into a vehicle and immediately took them to the KPK Detention Center. The arrests stemmed from a series of sting operations (OTT) conducted by the KPK team since Monday (June 29, 2026) in the Kuansing and Jakarta areas. The KPK team targeted fraudulent practices related to the filling of positions within the Kuansing Regency Government, specifically targeting the competition for the Regional Secretary position. Early in the operation, the KPK lost track of the Regent and Regional Secretary, suspecting an information leak that triggered the two officials' escape. Suhardiman and Zulkarnaen eventually surrendered to the authorities. The KPK team picked up the two high-ranking officials at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Tuesday evening (June 30, 2026). Officers directed their vehicle to enter through the back door of the KPK building. Suci Nitia Edward, also known as SC, suspected of being the unregistered wife or young wife of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby, was repatriated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). As reported by Tribunnews, SC was previously questioned for two nights after being arrested in a sting operation (OTT) involving alleged bribery in the sale and purchase of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) position. SC's questioning concluded on Wednesday morning (July 1, 2026) at the KPK's Red and White Building in South Jakarta. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the investigation was completed at around 10:04 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). SC was previously detained along with nine other individuals in a sting operation conducted since Monday (June 29, 2026) in Kuansing, Riau, and Jakarta. Of the 10 individuals arrested, investigators brought five to Jakarta for further questioning, including SC, a family member of a state official. Investigators questioned SC to trace the alleged flow of funds in the case.
