Featured Job: Bridge Lift in Santa Clarita
A customer contacted Maxim Crane Works to help with the Santa Clarita bridge, which will be used for pedestrian and equestrian traffic. The site was challenging because access was only allowed from the east side of the abutment and there was a restricted safety setback from a water main pipeline located directly under where the bridge was to be placed. Maxim’s engineering team created a three-crane hoist scenario to lift the 198,000lb bridge across the valley, safely above the pipeline—the main water line for the Los Angeles area! After Maxim’s plan was reviewed and approved by City engineers, a four-man rigging team completed the project using 230-ton, 350-ton, and 500-ton capacity all-terrain cranes. The bridge was assembled in a three-day period and the lift was safely completed in four hours under the watchful eyes of City, County, and water/power department officials.
