RADIOHEAD “Black Star” duet cover (4-track DEMO)

In the summer of 2012, before Nature’s Neighbor existed, I briefly lived with a woman named Shailaun. A Texas-born model and musician in Chicago, we’d first met a year earlier at a Roosevelt Collection party. Beyond her beauty, she had a radiant, effortless warmth that lit up any conversation. When I moved to River City that summer, I invited her to move in. We shared five intense months full of spontaneous, unforgettable moments: crashing a ground-floor jam session, marching and leading hundreds in the National Anthem after Obama’s re-election, and even me wearing one of her dresses for a basement show. She pushed me to try things I wouldn’t have dared alone. We loved singing together. Shailaun’s voice was pitch-perfect, soulful, and magnetic; our voices blended naturally. One day we recorded a duet cover of Radiohead’s “Black Star,” trading verses and singing the choruses together — all in one sitting. In 2024 I learned she had stage-four cancer. Though I’d moved to Japan in 2021, I found the old recording and emailed it to her. We reconnected, reminisced about Chicago, talked about making more music, and about her visiting Japan. That was our last conversation. Shailaun passed away in the summer of 2025 and it still doesn’t feel real. I’m sharing this song to keep her voice alive. Rest in peace, my beautiful friend — you may be gone, but your voice remains. ~ ► Apple Music:   / natures-neighbor   ► Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/73nzq... ► Bandcamp: https://naturesneighbor.bandcamp.com/ ► Instagram:   / naturesneighbor   ► Nature's Neighbor Webpage: https://www.naturesneighbormusic.com/ ► Record Label: https://www.pigeoninfirmaryrecords.com/
