Soulnote is an up-and-coming Japanese company led by Hideki Kato, a designer who has had many excellent collaborations in his career, including Marantz and Nec, to name but two. His technical, aesthetic but also functional approach to HiFi is completely original and is perfectly reflected in the three product lines Soulnote offers. The amplifier under test - A2 E- is part of the Series 2 midrange and can be considered an excellent synthesis of Kato's philosophy: powerful enough, capable of expressing excellent sound quality and extraordinary driving ability. A2 E is the classic analog amplifier, thus without internal DAC, Phono input or Streamer section and is in fully balanced configuration. Really recommended for those who like power, liveliness, and dynamics.
