Altare Rupestre "Su Crabili de Simoni" a Dolianova ~ 25 Febbraio 2025 | Sardegna

Let's explore the fascinating and enigmatic rock altar of "Su Crabili de Simoni", a virtually unknown site dating back to the pre-Nuragic era and immersed in the green countryside of Dolianova. HOW TO GET THERE If you do not have an off-road vehicle, it is advisable to leave the car near the Strada Comunale Montana at coordinates 39.378616181210724, 9.215262555784907 and continue on foot. The route is short, about 850 meters (one way). Initially you cross a flat and wide dirt road, which in the last 300 meters turns into a very steep path. Once you reach this mysterious place, you immediately perceive all its charm and its ancestral history. The Mediterranean scrub that surrounds it helps to create a mystical and evocative atmosphere, making the experience even more intense, all just a few steps from Dolianova. STRUCTURE The altar, still under study, features a series of engravings and precisely dug niches, probably used for votive offerings or to collect sacrificial liquids during rituals. Its shape, with sculpted steps and smooth surfaces, suggests careful architectural design, designed to encourage interaction between the earthly and spiritual worlds. Some scholars hypothesize that the site was dedicated to the worship of deities linked to nature, such as those of fertility or water. Around the altar you can see traces of ancient ceremonial paths and remains of auxiliary structures, including a circular structure on the top of the hill, thought to be from the Nuragic era, perhaps used by priests or participants in sacred rites. According to some hypotheses, the rock altar, dating back to the pre-Nuragic era (Neolithic), may have been part of a hypogean necropolis with a domus de janas. Situated on a rocky promontory, the altar offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding valley, underlining its symbolic value as a point of contact between heaven and earth. It is a place that invites reflection and respect for ancestral traditions, testifying to the deep bond between man and nature that has characterized Sardinia for millennia. Enjoy!
