Avildsen and written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. The story follows Rocky Balboa, a small-time boxer and debt collector from Philadelphia who gets an unexpected shot at the world heavyweight title when champion Apollo Creed chooses him as a novelty opponent for an upcoming fight. Seen as an underdog with little chance of winning, Rocky seizes the opportunity to prove his worth not just to the world, but to himself. The film explores themes of perseverance, self-respect, and personal redemption. Rocky trains with the help of crusty former boxer Mickey, develops a romantic relationship with shy pet shop worker Adrian, and slowly transforms from a down-and-out fighter into someone capable of going the distance.
