Tad Devine was the chief strategist for Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign. In his explosive new book, "How the Democrats Screwed Bernie" (Avid Reader Press), Devine argues that the Democratic establishment - the DNC, the Clinton machine, Super PACs, and media allies - deployed dark money and dirty tricks to stop a wildly popular outsider candidate who might well have beaten Donald Trump. Even Trump's own pollster later said Sanders would have won. Ten years later, Devine says the party hasn't learned. As democratic socialists like Zohran Mamdani rise and the establishment pushes back, the question for 2028 is simple: if Democratic voters want democratic socialism, shouldn't the party let them have it?
