Dorimsa Temple on Palgongsan Mountain in Daegu and Hogukmuyeolsa Temple of the Republic of Korea Army's 2nd Operational Command have joined hands to promote the emotional stability of military personnel and revitalize Buddhist propagation. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today (the 16th) at Dorimsa Temple, with Abbot Jonghwa and Abbot Hyeonjo of Hogukmuyeolsa Temple in attendance, and pledged systematic support for the religious practices of the soldiers. Under this agreement, Dorimsa Temple will provide free accommodation and meals for a monthly 1-night, 2-day Temple Stay program for soldiers. It will also provide religious items, such as beverage coupons and prayer beads, to participating soldiers. In particular, during the summer and winter seasons, they plan to organize separate intensive retreat programs to support soldiers in experiencing Buddhist culture more deeply. Hogukmuyeolsa Temple agreed to cooperate to ensure smooth operations by encouraging soldier participation and providing promotional materials that have undergone security reviews. Ven. Jonghwa, the head monk of Dorimsa Temple, stated, "I hope that young people dedicating themselves to the nation will find peace of mind and body through healing at the temple," adding, "I look forward to this experience serving as a valuable cornerstone for fostering young Buddhists and propagating the Dharma." Meanwhile, the eight soldiers who attended the signing ceremony on this day are scheduled to participate in a two-day, one-night temple stay to experience early morning prayers and Zen meditation firsthand, seeking time for mental and physical stability and healing.
