KOMPAS.TV - A wave of demonstrations demanding economic improvements, including an evaluation of the free nutritious meal program, continues to unfold in several regions. Student groups affiliated with the Indonesian Muslim Student Movement (PMMI) voiced their demands in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) Building in Jakarta on Monday (June 15, 2026). In Denpasar, students from several universities in Bali urged a complete evaluation of the MBG program and a reduction in the price of Pertamax fuel. Students in Bali also criticized the government's public communication, which has failed to listen to and accommodate the public's various aspirations. A group of Central Javanese students affiliated with the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement also demanded the government evaluate the MBG program and reject National Police reforms at the Central Java Regional Police headquarters. Amidst the wave of criticism of the MBG program, other groups chose to disagree by holding a demonstration in support of the continuation of the free nutritious meal program. In Bandar Lampung, protesters affiliated with the Lampung Community Alliance Supporting MBG, or Amal MBG, demanded the government continue the MBG program. The protesters, dominated by women, considered the MBG program beneficial for children and pregnant women, and that it had empowered women working in MBG kitchens. In Jakarta, a group calling itself the United Young Mothers expressed support for President Prabowo's flagship program at the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue in Central Jakarta. The Chairwoman of the United Young Mothers, who is also the Chairwoman of the Gerindra Party Regional Leadership Council (DPD) for Southwest Papua Province, stated that the mothers believe the MBG program has provided direct benefits to the community, so there is no need to stop it.
