Looking at my C64 Ultimate and trying to fix the keyboard flex (Ep.38)
I have a new Commodore 64 Ultimate Starlight Edition, and it suffered from some problems, most notably the keybord flex. So, in this video I am taking it apart and trying to fix those, with varying success. Don't do this yourself - you'll most likely void your warranty, and I am not responsible for anything you do to your C64. Update: It seems Commodore has announced that newer C64U, all editions, will get a 1.6mm thick keyboard PCB that should be much sturdier and with less problems than the 1.0mm PCBs in this "early" model. Maybe I now got a collectors item...;-) 00:39 Intro 01:45 Opening the case 03:12 Fixing the case bottom 04:42 Looking at the PCB 06:32 First look at the keyboard 09:08 Looking at the flex 10:34 Removing the keys 14:35 Unscrewing the keyboard PCB 20:20 Trying to glue the frame 22:53 Putting it back together 35:32 Summary My previous video on my 40+ year old Commodore 64: • Unboxing a Commodore 64... my original mac...
