Hamsey Level Crossing, East Sussex Crossing Type: AHBC (Automatic Half Barrier Crossing) Date Filmed: 16/8/25 Located Between Cooksbridge and Lewes Stations Rail Line: Brighton to Hastings (East Coastway Line) Location: Road: The Drove, Offham Google Maps Location: 50.893915 -0.003121 Filmed On Google Pixel 7A - 1080p, 30fps Timetable Used: Cooksbridge on RealTimeTrains Two lowerings feature at the currently OLDEST Automatic Half Barrier crossings in the UK, situated in Offham, East Sussex. These barriers, being Mk1 'Penguin' Barriers, date as far back as 1964, meaning that they have been in use for 61 years! Remarkably, there are bells mounted on both the barriers pillars, although these have been out of use for years, The LED Wigwags date back to the early-mid 2010's It was a very last-minute choice to catch the second lowering here, but this was a result of the first ending up being slightly delayed, being a Gatwick Express and the latter train being Southern. Both these trains were operated with Class 387 Units. Something interesting to note is the fairly-new camera that's been installed on the off-side Wigwag (in the second activation) And with that, I have no more new, scheduled videos to upload, and the channel hiatus has commenced, due to reasons regarding my personal life, with crossing-trips not being as much of a priority as they have been in the last few months. This hiatus is not permanent, and some activity may be seen in my Community Posts. A channel overhaul, and a lot more will happen behind the scenes.
