Eating at St. John’s River Grille on the River! | Waterfront Dining

We checked out St. John’s River Grille to see if it lives up to the hype. Located right on the water, this DeLand, Florida restaurant is known for its riverfront views—but is the food actually worth it? In this honest review, we break down the food, prices, atmosphere, and overall experience so you know if it’s worth the visit. We have never been to this riverfront restaurant but have passed by many times. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, which we chose the covered patio overlooking the river. They have daily events so there is something to always do here. There are also plenty of boats on the property. For our food review, we started off with the pretzel and homemade beer cheese. This pretzel was large and we really liked it. It featured a nice crunch but yet had a soft interior. The cheese tasted a little spicy but it was good. Moving on to the main entrees, we tried the Mahi Dinner with vegetables and a baked potato. The Mahi was cooked perfectly and the potato was good. The veggies weren’t the best and we would consider that to be the least favorite of the meal. For the next entree we tried the blackened shrimp with the sweet potato fries and the homemade cinnamon butter. Unfortunately, they brought fried shrimp out but ended up fixing it for us. The shrimp had a nice flavor and spice to them. They had coleslaw as well. The fried were so good and their homemade butter was top! The combo was amazing! For dessert, we tried the Reese’s peanut butter cake and it was also tasty. It needed up being a little pricey but the views and food were all good at this waterfront restaurant in DeLand!
