“He used to play with her like a doll”, says Kerry Taylor of Kerry Taylor Auctions, of the relationship between the late Alexander McQueen, and his friend, model and socialite Annabelle Neilson, who died after a heart attack in 2018. On Tuesday 22nd September Neilson’s 124-piece McQueen wardrobe is going up for sale. “It’s incredibly rare, you just don’t see collections of this scale. Some people will have one or two pieces, or they’ll have pieces from a certain period, but you can see that this is a true reflection of their relationship”. In a new film by Mimi Lanfranchi for The F Word Magazine, Kerry Taylor tells Joe Bromley why McQueen retains his importance today, and gives new insights into the stories behind the garments and collections featured in the sale.
