Nicolai Hartmann – "Cognition in the Light of Ontology and Other Writings" New Polish translation of masterpieces of German philosophy "Nicolai Hartmann: Cognition in the Light of Ontology and Other Writings – Translation, Scientific Editing, and Publication of Nicolai Hartmann's Writings" invites you to a stream dedicated to the newly published book by Marek Derewiecki Publishing House (2025). Six key articles by Nicolai Hartmann have been published in Polish for the first time in this collection. Hartmann – one of the most outstanding ontologists of the 20th century – after years of detailed analyses of various spheres of being, returns to the problem with which he began: the theory of knowledge. He demonstrates that a full understanding of cognition (including a priori cognition) is only possible in a broader ontological context. This is not an abandonment of epistemology, but its ontologization. Moderator: Pylyp Bilyi, M.A. During the stream, we will discuss, among other things, the following: The relationship between the theory of knowledge and the ontology of being, the evolution of Hartmann's thought—from neo-Kantianism and Russian philosophy to mature critical ontology, and the significance of these texts for contemporary philosophy.
