I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing
I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing started out as a British pop tune called True Love and Apple Pie (which also would have been appropriate to the program). The composers recast it in 1971 as a jingle for Coca-Cola with the help of ad agency McCann Erickson, which also created a band, the Hillside Singers, to record it. Re-rewritten with noncommercial lyrics, the song charted across the English-speaking world as recorded by both the Hillside Singers and the British group the New Seekers. We have restored a few of the commercial lyrics, not to sell Coke but to maintain our food-and-beverage theme. Soloists: Thomas Kent Annamarie Davis Laura Lee Whittington John Whittington
