Alicia de Larrocha Plays Turina's Ciclo Pianistico Nos. 1& 2 (1954). Mono.

Joaquín Turina (1882-1949) was a Spanish composer and pianist. Along with de Manuel de Falla, Turina was an early proponent of composing classical music based on Spanish melodies, and promoting works by Spanish composers. The pieces here are part of his Ciclo pianistico for piano - Op. 80 and Op.57 respectively. Alicia de Larrocha (1923-2009) was one of the great virtuoso pianists of the 20th century. Certainly the most renown Spanish pianist and arguably the most well-known female pianists of her time. She championed works from her native Spain, but played other composers' music masterfully as well. This particular recording from 1954 is one of the most damaged recordings I have transferred for posting (which may explain the 50 cent retail price!) As with other damaged recordings, I have tried to balance between reducing the noise while still preserving the essence of the recording.
