Susquehanna 142: Rainy Steam on the Bel-Del [4K]

Running alongside the banks of the vast Delaware River and nestled deep within the Lower Lehigh Valley is the Delaware River Railroad. Keeping the spirit of steam railroading alive, the railroad fired up New York, Susquehanna & Western 2-8-2 "Mikado" #142 to take charge of their weekly excursions. Offering quaint views of the Delaware River Valley and the surrounding communities, the railroad provides tourists and railroad enthusiasts a glimpse into a bygone era of travel. Sit back and appreciate the sights and sounds of 142 on a damp, overcast afternoon in "Rainy Steam on the Bel-Del" by Keystone Rail Productions! History of Susquehanna 142: New York, Susquehanna and Western 142 is a 2-8-2 China Railways "SY" class Mikado constructed in 1989 by the Tangshan Locomotive Works. Designated as SY-1647M, the locomotive was prepared and exported for use on the Valley Railroad of Connecticut in the United States. Inspired by the Valley Railroad, the NYS&W ordered a similar locomotive, SY-1698M (141), however the cargo ship sank on route to the United States. In 1991, the NYS&W purchased the Valley Railroad's 1647 and renumbered her to 142 for excursion service. When the Susquehanna's Steam Program ceased in 2003, the locomotive would be moved to Bel-Del's operations out of Phillipsburg, NJ. The locomotive would operate along the line until 2017, when a mandated FRA 1,472 Day Inspection sidelined the locomotive. Finally returning to steam in late 2025, 142 would resume hauling regular excursions.
