Our first PhysCast (Physics Podcast) features an interaction with Shresth Suraiya, an Indian student from Mumbai who achieved global recognition by winning a Gold Medal at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026. The prestigious Olympiad event took place in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 4 to July 12, 2026. As a key member of India's five-member team, Shresth’s individual gold medal contributed to a historic collective triumph. All five Indian representatives won gold, propelling India to Joint World Rank #1. Before his international success, Shresth secured All India Rank (AIR) 58 in the highly competitive JEE Advanced 2026 examinations. Shresth also represented India in the Asian Physics Olympiad held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 2025, where he secured an honourable mention award. Shresth is also a four-time Indian National Mathematics Olympiad (INMO) awardee and has received an honourable mention award in the Asian Pacific Mathematical Olympiad in 2025. Shresth has trained in Hindustani classical music for several years under Pt. Sukhdeva Chaturvedi and the late Pt.
