Parliament Acts: PAC Demands Transparency and Reform from Botswana Police Service
PAC Confronts Botswana Police Service Over Financial Mismanagement and Systemic Issues Accounting Officer : Ms Dinah Marathe During the 61st sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Botswana Police Service (BPS) came under intense scrutiny as committee members raised serious concerns regarding financial mismanagement and broader institutional failures. The meeting, marked by pointed questioning, revealed troubling discrepancies across multiple areas of the police service’s operations. Key issues highlighted by the PAC included irregularities in procurement processes, particularly around tender awards and budget allocations, with suspicions of corruption in how resources are distributed. The committee also questioned the lack of transparency in the provision of housing for officers, the state of police transport, and delays or inconsistencies in officer salaries. Alarmingly, the PAC addressed allegations involving police officers linked to ritual killings, raising ethical and legal concerns about the integrity of the service. The committee also noted the growing public mistrust due to these unresolved matters. The session highlighted the need for urgent reform within the BPS to restore accountability, professionalism, and public confidence. #africa #botswana #botswanaspeaks #uk #motherland #motherland #newvideo #news #newgovtjobs #fyp #williamlast_krm #fypシ゚viral #police #policeofficer #policeconstable #diaspora #batswanadiaspora #europe #asia #kenya #nigeria #morocco #ghana #rwandatravel #tanzania #ireland
