If you do endurance exercise, you need to get the book “The Haywire Heart” by Chris Case and John Mandrola. About one-third of marathoners experience dilated ventricles. It seems that many athletes develop dilated ventricles or enlarged ventricles on one side. There are even indications of heart muscle damage and cardiac fibrosis. Another problem that can occur is called ventricular tachycardia. The authors talk about how doing sustained endurance exercise for over 1 hour every day, five days a week, could cause issues. This could cause structural and functional changes within the heart.  The heart is becoming stronger and more efficient, and the heart rate actually comes down. The heart rate can even come down from a normal heart rate of around 72 to 50 or even down to 30.
