【竹虎】幻のシブカ笠がついに試作第一号完成!復刻への大きな一歩、課題を乗り越え理想の国産竹笠を目指します!

Inspired by the bamboo frame, we pursue the art of Ikkanbari (lacquered paper craftsmanship). Towards the revival of the legendary Shibuka hat. → https://www.taketora.co.jp/diary/2026... We once encountered the legendary "Shibuka hat" in a museum. Captivated by its beautifully radiating bamboo frame, our challenge began with the desire to one day revive it, and has finally resulted in the first prototype. Bamboo frame making, washi paper application, persimmon tannin coating—each craftsman's skill comes together, bringing to life the accumulated knowledge of Taketora over many years. However, the journey to the ideal Shibuka hat is far from over. There are still challenges to overcome to ensure comfortable use, such as reducing weight, improving the trivet, and enhancing waterproofing. Nevertheless, achieving this point is a significant step forward. We will continue to refine the design, aiming to create a domestically produced Shibuka hat that is both beautifully traditional and practical for modern use. We look forward to the completion date, and we hope you'll support Taketora's challenge! #TraditionalCrafts #Craftsmanship #BambooHat Subscribe to our channel here:    / taketora1894   Taketora, a specialty shop for tiger-striped bamboo https://www.taketora.co.jp/ [30-Year Blog] Taketora's Fourth Generation's Journey! https://www.taketora.co.jp/diary/ [Taketora Instagram]   / taketora1894   [Taketora Official LINE] https://lin.ee/yivIEXD [Taketora Pinterest]   / taketora   [Taketora 4th Generation X] https://x.com/taketoracom [Taketora TikTok]   / taketora1894   [TAKETORA The company explanation] https://www.taketora.co.jp/c/special/... ======= ■Taketora 4th Generation (Yoshihiro Yamagishi) Profile The fourth generation of a long-established bamboo shop that has been in business since 1894 (Meiji 27). The company, which had been in business for 100 years, faced the risk of bankruptcy. In 1997, a website was built to introduce the unique tiger bamboo (Torafudake), which grows only in Kochi Prefecture and has attracted attention from international media such as the BBC, but it was a complete failure. Re-evaluating the situation, the charm and brand power of this regional resource, Torafudake, was rediscovered. The fourth-generation owner of Taketora, one of only two World Bamboo Ambassadors in Japan and a director of the All Japan Bamboo Industry Federation, promotes this with the spirit of "NO BAMBOO NO LIFE." In 2016, a successful crowdfunding campaign resulted in the creation of the "Bamboo Tracker," Japan's only electric vehicle made from Torafudake bamboo. It traveled 1000 kilometers from Kochi to Yokohama in 11 days. In 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the Consulate-General of Japan in São Paulo to give lectures on the potential of bamboo at JAPAN HOUSE Sao Paulo and at Paulista University of São Paulo. In 2018, delivered a keynote speech at the World Bamboo Congress held in Xalapa, Mexico, entitled "100 Years with Japan's Unique Tiger Bamboo: Sustainable Utilization of Local Resources." Transported a bamboo tracker to Mexico for a run. Appointed as one of only two World Bamboo Ambassadors in Japan. In 2019, to commemorate the company's 125th anniversary, produced the "REIWA-125" box cart vehicle. Participated in a box cart race in Vitoria, Spain, equipped with tiger bamboo armor, and received a special appreciation award (Mencion especial) along with three other bamboo teams from Spain, France, and Japan. Participated in the Red Bull Box Cart Race at Tokyo Yomiuri Land, beating strong competitors from across Japan to achieve a remarkable second-place finish. 2021: Received the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award for Hometown Development. 2022: Gave a webinar presentation at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles, USA, entitled "Bamboo as an Intangible Part of Japanese Culture and Life - The Infinite Potential of Bamboo." 2024: Participated in the Challenge Run Taiwan at the 12th World Bamboo Congress Taiwan, bringing a bamboo tracker with them. Ran on a specially prepared 2km course within National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University. Promoted Japanese bamboo culture, particularly tiger bamboo, and demonstrated the potential of bamboo. 2024: To commemorate the 130th anniversary of the company's founding, created the "Tiger Bamboo" Yosakoi festival float using tiger bamboo. Participated in the Yosakoi Festival. In 2025, selected from Rakuten's 58,000 stores—a highly competitive award given to only 0.2%—the Rakuten Shop of the Year Sustainability Award. Speech at the All Japan Bamboo Industry Federation's National Bamboo Convention, Yamaguchi Prefecture Convention.
