[Awit kay San Pedro at San Pablo] BAILE DE LAS CASTAÑETAS from the Panatang Sayaw

The dancing of the Baile de Castañetas with the singing of the "Awit kay San Pedro at San Pablo", a devotional poetry and dance in honor of the triumvirate patrons of Makati City: the Virgen de la Rosa and the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul. After the prayerful performance of the Baile de Arcos with the singing of the "Awit sa Virgen de la Rosa", the Baile de Castañetas concludes the Panatang Sayaw. It is called such due to the use of castanets. This dance, like the previous parts, is done in turns by the "mananayaw", virgin ladies who devote themselves to chant, sing and dance their thanksgiving and petitions. It begins with the Capitana, and then followed by the Guías (guides) who are divided into two groups, the Kánan (right side) and the Kaliwâ (left side), each having their ranks, i.e., primera, segunda, and so on. The Awit kay San Pedro at San Pablo is an excerpt from the "Oración Panegírica", a panegyric sermon/prayer written by Rev. D. Mariano Pilapil in 29 June 1796, in praise to the patrons of Sampiro de Macati (now Makati City) during the benediction of its parochial church, and was set into music by an anonymous musician of the said city.
