Presbyter Gregory Telepneff, an Adjunct Professor at the Saint Photios Orthodox Theological Seminary, will be presenting a lecture entitled “The Egyptian Desert in the Irish Bogs: The Celtic Connection.” Early Irish Christianity was vibrant, with some surprising Eastern Christian influences. This lecture will highlight these influences, particularly Egyptian influences on the dynamic monastic culture of sixth-century Hibernia. A visual comparison of Irish (Celtic) and Egyptian religious art will be included.
