Lesson 2: Making a Cushion Cover from a Shirt Let's make a cushion cover from an old shirt. First, draw a seam allowance along the cushion filling and cut it out. Then, sew along the finished line using a sewing machine. Secure it with a magnetic fastener to ensure a clean finish. Don't worry about removing the basting pins; the sewing machine will automatically adjust them for you. Once you're done sewing, use an overlock sewing machine to trim the edges to prevent fraying.
