We heard that Race Truck, a familiar face on our channel, was restoring (well, not quite restoring, but fully refreshing) a 30-year-old Chevrolet C1500, so we're going to feature it on American Car World. Here's the announcement! C1500s were supposedly imported to Japan in large numbers during the American car boom, but they've become increasingly rare in recent years. Sometimes I wonder, "Where on earth did they go?" My guess is that most of them were crushed and recycled for scrap metal. The C/K series imported to Japan during the American car boom of the '90s were often used, parallel imports, in terrible condition...lowrider models in particular. People probably bought them, but then broke down or couldn't maintain them, so they were sold or left abandoned, eventually becoming scrap metal without being repaired. It's a sad story. The vehicle that Race Truck will be refreshing this time is a new parallel import, which was rare for the C1500 of that time, and it is in near-perfect condition. But after more than 30 years, it's pretty worn out. It seems like it would be quite a challenge to bring it back to near-new condition. However, the core parts of the vehicle, like the frame and engine, are solid, so it seems like it would be able to run without any problems if it was fully serviced, including replacing all the consumable parts. That said, it seems like it would cost quite a bit to repair and paint the exterior body, and honestly, a budget of 3 million yen seems a bit too cheap (lol). Due to budgetary constraints, this vehicle will not be completed all at once, but will be refreshed little by little in between regular work, and it will take about six months to complete.
