One of the incredible aspects of Scripture is that there is no attempt to hide the sins of mankind, even the people who are viewed as ‘heroes of the faith.’ Genesis 29:31-30:24 records for us the birth of 11 of Jacob’s sons and one of his daughters…children who came by 4 different women. This passage of Scripture demonstrates the great need of man for God’s written law to govern morality, and moreover, man’s need for mercy because of our immorality. Ultimately, we are in need of God declaring us righteous as an unmerited gift of grace, because we are anything but righteous. How marvelous that God is faithful to fulfill His covenant promises, even to sinful people! He’s willing to show grace even to the most sinful of people! He’s able to redeem even the most sinful of people!
