Promoting Native Plants with the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library

In this webinar Mélanie Ouellette, founder of the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library, will share how the seed library came to be, how it works, the importance of native plant species, and the values that guide their strategic approach. She will also explore tips that have worked for them in establishing the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library, with the hope that they can inspire and guide others who wish to start their own native seed libraries in their local communities, whether big or small. In 2024-2025 only, almost 5,000 community projects, schools and individuals received free native seeds from the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library, the majority in the Ottawa area, but also in Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Over 100,000 seed packages were donated, from 265 different species. Over 2,500 people attended their workshops, presentations and outreach events.
