Wildpferde in Portugals Nationalpark "Peneda-Gerês"

Portugal's only national park lies in the northwest. The Peneda-Gerês National Park (Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês) has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2009. Wolves and wild horses also call this area home. 70,000 hectares of evergreen nature, extreme elevation changes, and the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean make the landscape unique. In the north of the park, two nature lovers from Lisbon have fulfilled their dream. Anabela Moedas and Pedro Alarcão of Ecotura moved to the national park 10 years ago to document the behavior of wild horses and wolves. Their hearts are especially fond of the wild horses, the Garranos. Anabela Moedas specializes in the healing power of plants and collects them in the wild. She also uses them as spices and for soaps.
