Nekokichi has recently been spending a lot of time playing in the "Annex" (my old home office) after his garden walks. Once he starts playing, he doesn't want to leave! I usually go back to the main house to finish my work, chores, or running errands before picking him up. However, since it gets chilly quickly in winter, I decided to build him a "Cozy Kotatsu House" using a personal space heater so he can stay warm even when I’m not around. [Key Features of this DIY House] ・Energy Efficient: The heater uses only 20-100W, making it very eco-friendly. ・Safety First: A "Thermostat Function" is essential for a cat house. It prevents overheating and maintains a steady, comfortable temperature. (In this build, it stayed around 23-24°C / 73-75°F even on the 'High' setting.) ・Clean Air: Since the heater doesn't involve combustion, it doesn't consume oxygen or produce CO2/Carbon Monoxide. ・Natural Ventilation: I designed it so fresh air enters from the entrance and escapes through the top vents, preventing CO2 from buildup inside. [The Best DIY Tip: 100-Yen Shop Hack] The highlight of this build is using a photo frame from Daiso. Buying an acrylic sheet of the same size at a hardware store would cost around 1,000 yen, but this frame was only 100 yen! It’s the perfect size, requires no cutting, and is a fantastic "material" for any DIY lover. [A Quick Note on Safety] Please note that adhesive tape can weaken with heat. If you find the tape peeling off, using glue is a more permanent solution. However, if you use glue, please let it dry completely for a few days before letting your cat inside to ensure all fumes are gone.
