Corvin Castle - legends from the Middle Ages! What does Corvin Castle look like today? Who built it? What are the legends that made it famous? The Corvin Castle or Hunyadi Castle, as it is also called, was built by order of Iancu de Hunedoara in the 15th century. It is one of the largest castles in the Middle Ages, a jewel of Gothic architecture. In a short visit we learned several legends, such as that of the raven and the golden ring, which are found on the coat of arms of the Hunyadi family, of the Turkish prisoners, of the Franciscan monk John of Capistrano or of the lady sentenced to death. History has recorded in documents and real events, we remembered the spectacular escape of the outlaw John Vinca and his 7 accomplices. The Knights' Hall and the Diet Hall, Bethlen Palace are just a few of the renovated rooms that present to visitors elements of furniture, armor and weapons from the Middle Ages. Corvin Castle is a must-see tourist attraction in Hunedoara, its age, impressive size and connection with the history of Transylvania position it among the top tourist attractions in Romania.
