Also one thing I didn't make clear enough: Gay people just exist in the world of TMA, casually and all the time as statement givers, family of statement givers, etc. There's no One Gay or One Episode Where They Acknowledge The Gays Exists. It's just a fact of life. Which makes it less likely for me to latch on to any one character as The Representation the way I've latched onto Melanie for her disability. And then there's The Mechanisms, which if you ask me their entire discography is a masterclass in how to write tragedy that involves queer people and Jonny's obviously very involved with the writing there. I just didn't mention it in the video because I hadn't started listening to them yet when I wrote and recorded it. And to be clear, I don't necessarily agree that Daisy is queer-coded, but if you want to make that argument I literally cannot stop you, knock yourself out.
