Legendary Turkish Belly Dancer Sema Yildiz

This is a video of the legendary Belly Dancer Sema Yildiz performing to a classic Turkish Chifteteli song with zills in the mid 2000's at the esteemed Gar Music Hall, Istanbul. SEMA YILDIZ Sema is one of the most renowned, influential, and famous Belly Dancers & Romani Dancers of the last century. She has had many roles over her 50+ year career: dance performer, teacher, actress, ambassador for Turkish dance, agent, choreographer, coach, mentor, competition judge, as well as dance mother to thousands of students all over the world. Her illustrious career combines travelling to 25 countries to dance and teach in four continents, to starring in Turkish cinema and television, foreign documentries, and weekly newspaper series. Sema has been part of several academic studies and photographic art exhibitions and featured as part of tourism Turkey campaigns. She has worked with both Turkish and international singers, musicians, actors, directors, and dancers, and was the first dancer to perform in the historic Ottoman-era Topkapı palace. Sema was also the first Turkish teacher to be invited to teach in Egypt and Japan.
