The Church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighting the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. These buttresses were included as part of the structure on account of the seismic condition of the country. Paoay Church was declared as a National Cultural Treasure in 1973 under Presidential Decree no, 263. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on December 11,1993. It is a special place which continues to attract people from around the country and beyond to visit this ancient church.
