Pep's principals of play carry over to his Bayern Munich team, with possession of the ball being of high priority. In possession, Bayern Munich's full backs would often invert to form a midfield three with the holding midfielder. This would then lead to the wingers staying as high and wide as possible in order to stretch the opposition defence. The movement from the likes of Muller and Lewandowski would then utilise this space. Defensively, Bayern would employ a high line in order to compliment their counter press after losing the ball.
