🕉️ Shvetashvatara Upanishad | Episode 05 In the last episode, we completed the second chapter. We heard the perfect place for meditation, the inner signs of deep practice, the body purified by the fire of yoga, and that magnificent closing homage to the God who dwells in fire, water, and all of creation. Today we enter the third chapter. And today everything changes. If the first chapter asked the great questions, and the second chapter gave us the path of yoga, the third chapter gives us the answer. Direct. Thunderous. Unforgettable. Eko hi Rudrah. Na dvitiyaya tasthuh. Rudra is One. There is no second. This is the most powerful declaration in the entire Shvetashvatara Upanishad. Perhaps in all of Vedic literature. In one single line, the rishis sweep away every doubt, every confusion, every distraction. There is one reality. One consciousness. One God. And that is Rudra. In this episode we hear Mantras 1 through 11 of Chapter 3. We discover Rudra as the one who governs all worlds with his divine powers. We see the cosmic form — eyes everywhere, hands everywhere, feet everywhere, face everywhere. We hear Rudra named as the source from which all gods themselves were born. We receive the prayer to his gentle, auspicious, non-fierce form — Shiva — to look upon us with grace and not to harm this world with the arrow he holds. And then, in Mantra 11, comes one of the most extraordinary lines in all of Shaiva scripture. Sarvavyapi sa bhagavan, tasmat sarvagatah Shivah. He is all-pervading, that blessed one. And therefore he who is everywhere is called Shiva. This is the moment the Upanishad names him. Not just Rudra. Shiva.
