David Bentley Hart & Ranchor Prime | Discussion: Our Relationship With God
All too many theists have a relationship with God based on guilt, dread and fear. David Bantley Hart and Ranchor Prime will discuss more meaningful and healthy ways of relating to God. "David Bentley Hart (born 1965) is an American philosopher and theologian whose work encompasses a wide range of subjects and genres. A prolific essayist, he has written on topics as diverse as art, literature, religion, philosophy, film, baseball, and politics. He is also an author of fiction. As a religious scholar, his work engages heavily with classical, medieval and continental European philosophy, philosophical and systematic theology, patristic texts, and South and East Asian culture, religion, and metaphysics. His translation of the New Testament was published in 2017." - Wikipedia Ramchor Prime writes, designs and illustrates books. He also sinsg and teaches as well as running a small publishing house, Fitzrovia Press. As an art student in Chelsea He discovered the Bhagavad Gita and met followers of Krishna. Ranchor joined the Radha Krishna Temple and became a disciple of A C Bhaktivedanta Swami, who gave me the name Ranchor Das. During the 1970s He pioneered a Hare Krishna centre in Manchester, painted pictures, and built and managed a new Radha Krishna temple in the West End of London. In 1987 Ranchor began working as an adviser to WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature, on religion and conservation. His first book, Hinduism and Ecology, written in 1990, arose from my work with WWF in Britain and India. This led me to found Friends of Vrindavan, an environmental charity for conserving the sacred forests of Krishna in India and strengthening the link between Hinduism and ecology. In 1996 Ranchor helped found ARC, the Alliance of Religions and Conservation, which until 2020 worked with religions worldwide to support environmental education and action. Ranchor started Fitzrovia Press in October 2008 to publish his own books and new writing from other authors. The press is dedicated to producing spiritual books for a broad readership.
